June was a great month, we sampled wines from Germany. Since it appears most of us are red wine drinkers, this was a big change from the Argentinian and Chilean wines of previous months. I think most of us were surprised at how much we enjoyed the Rieslings from Germany and most were not as sweet as we each remembered. I slipped in the Traminette I recently bought at Vintage Virginia and while no one particularly liked the flavor, it was fun to see the reaction from the group :)
I have just confirmed the date for July as July 21st at 7pm and we will be tasting Sparkling Wines from anywhere....and I am so excited, I LOVE bubbly! See you all next month!

Virginia Wines to try.....
So last weekend I went to Vintage Virginia at Bull Run Park and discovered a new winery that I want to tell the world about....Barren Ridge.
Their wines are delicious and I highly recommend checking them out, I especially enjoyed the Traminette!

French Riesling
Saturday night I enjoyed the patio at Can Can and ordered a delicious glass of French Riesling and I thought I would share it for those of you looking for a nice (not sweet) white wine to enjoy on those hot days of summer!
W Gisselbrecht Riesling 2007 - Alsace, France
This is a fresh, fruit-forward Riesling perfect for pairing with just about any seafood or white meat. In addition to its versatility, W. Gisselbrecht Riesling is full of personality; a nose of green apple, grapefruit, wildflowers, and fresh mint lead to a balanced, dry, and nuanced palate.
Sante!

First Wine Club night.....
Ladies, ladies, ladies....this is my first attempt at a blog and I'm copying Becca's by picking a cool name for us! Richmond Chicks Dig Wine, what do you think?
Our first night of wine club was so much fun and I wanted to share some of the wines that were the hits of the evening in case you wanted them for another time....just don't ask me what number was what as I didn't write that one down :(
Domaine St. Benezet Cabernet 2006
Black Beret Grenache Syrah
Sainte Croix Syrah Merlot
I am looking forward to next month and will be sending out an evite soon with a new date....starting thinking about great wines from Chile! Lesson learned last time, we need to eat more than cheese so if you don't mind bringing something to eat too, I think that will be great!
Please join in on the fun and let the blogging begin.....
